PSA- Peter Pan Collared Shirts!

Little ones in collared shirts look….clean. That might be a bit dramatic but its true! A peter pan collared shirt immediately elevates a Jon Jon or Jumper and it is a practical, warming addition to almost any ensemble.

I have made my own collared shirts for Maria. I use woven fabrics (usually imperial broadcloth) and one of several patterns. The shirt included in the Children’s Corner  Johnny Pattern is very sweet. However; for daily wear I tend to reach for the ones made of knit more often than I do my woven options.

Now-the question is: to make the knit shirt or to buy it?

Since this is an item my child wears daily, it gets dirty….really dirty. So when weighing my personal pros/cons I took into account that I would watch this item slowly “degrade” over time. It hurts my heart a little to watch something I’ve made get destroyed slowly, even if my little angel is the one doing it. I also accounted for the cost of my favorite knit fabric; Sea Island Knit is not cheap! Keeping these things in mind I began my search for the perfect collared undershirt.

Maria wears this Zuccini Kids Collared shirt at least two times a week….I purchased two of them!

Upon the recommendation of one of my girlfriend’s I gave this Zuccini Knit Shirt a go for my toddler girl. It is reasonably priced at $18 (I certainly can’t make it for that) and has been very durable. It comes with several trim options as well!  I’ve also tried this Petit Bebe Knit Shirt -it too is made of great quality knit but is less reasonably priced at $24.

When shopping for my future little boy (due in February!) I ran across the best deal I’ve seen thus far. I may or may not have purchased it in every size he’ll be wearing for the first year of his life. Primary Clothing uses fantastic quality knits and has a long ($14) and short ($12) sleeved Peter Pan collared options for infants. The sleeve is a “boy sleeve” so I was extremely excited.

Anyway; short and sweet post! Hope it makes your Black Friday shopping a bit more productive.
