Harper + April Mash-Up

Y’all this combo. I am a sucker for a bubble…and this combination is most certainly my new favorite.

The sibling set possibilties are so exciting! Both of these fabrics are from the Smocking Shoppe in Louisville. Call to order.

First off; the patterns are extremely well written and easy to follow. It’s obvious that Children’s Corner goes out of their way to ensure that any level of sewist can pick up a pattern and understand the instructions. Because of this, it is super easy to combine the two. Another thing I love about both of these patterns is that they’re both lined. Patterns that are totally lined tend to have great body. I have found that I love lining my patterns with a Fabric Finders broadcloth or a fabric with a weight equivalent to the outer fabric.

The back is just as cute as the front. Your little will be adorable coming and going 🙂 This is Pink Baby Stripe by Spechler Vogel.

Children’s Corner recently posted instructions on how to combine the two patterns. You can find them here. I’ve now made three of the combined patterns. I love the possibilities this combo creates: the April’s bodice comes in larger sizes than a typical bubble. Using the bodice and adding length and width to the Harper bottom you can easily create a bubble in a size 2, 3 or even a 4. You can also create a “boy bubble” from theApril pattern by leaving out the shoulder ruffles. This helps create a very tailored, unisex bubble.

Both of these fabrics are Fabric Finders and can be purchased at the Smocking Shoppe in Louisville. Call to order.

I did not entirely follow the Children’s Corner Blog instructions in these bubbles. I added their suggested length to the Harper Bottom. I did this because I wanted a bubble the was less full. Either option works and is adorable. If you want a bubble that is more full; add the length to the April bodice or add additional length and width to the Harper bottom.

Do you have a favorite pattern “mash-up?” If so; I’d love to hear about it! Share your creation using the hashtag #dressthemdearly on Instagram. Make sure to tag me in your picture to start a conversation.
