A few years ago, my friend and I drafted a pattern on my kitchen counter. I had recently learned that I was pregnant and was itching to get sewing for my baby, who would be about six months old when the summer months hit. Dreaming of a chubby baby sitting by the pool in a sunsuit, we set out to design a sunsuit that would be appropriate for boys and girls and would have a ton of room for embroidery and appliqué. We came up with this look.
I made several for my then unborn child Robby, and forgot all about it. This past year I’ve been on a mission to learn how to digitize patterns so that I could offer them to those interested in them. So, it is my pleasure to announce that this pattern is now available, in PDF format, over at this link. The process of digitizing this pattern has been such a cool one. I know there are quite a few people out there interested in learning to do this; I relied heavily on Pattern Lab London’s Digital Pattern Making Course to do the actual drafting. The instructions and illustrations involved trial and error and a lot of input from my pattern testers. Check out some of their work below. I was blessed with many friends of various sewing levels who were willing to test it for me. They’ve all reported back that they’ll be making more…my favorite endorsements so far.
